Monday February 16, 2009

This weekend was Valentine's day..ho hum. To us it's not that big of a deal anymore being married for over 10 years. The fact of the matter is that we still enjoy each other and each others company so every day is like Valentine's Day. He went to class on V-day again..then he came home we went for lunch at the Spaghetti Factory and then got his oil changed. Not too spectacular but for us it was good. We made dinner at home and watched some shows. Having got up early for class he was tired and so was I so we went to bed early. Hey that's what you get for this many years, but we like it. Sunday was also pretty low key but at least the weather has been somewhat cooperative. Chilly, but sunny nonetheless. Anyway, that's all I've got for now.
Until next time...

Monday February 9, 2009

So another weekend has come and gone and I didn't write anything..I know tsk tsk. But for once I actually had Phil home with me. He went to his class he had scheduled for Saturday at 8am and waited and waited and no instructor ever showed up so he took off. Today they told him to come back on Saturday to do it again. I hope these classes can help him stay at Boeing, cause getting out in the world with the thousands already there would be trying.

We did sooo much laundry this weekend..good god. It was insane, but finally done. Yesterday we made crock pot BBQ pulled pork and it was good.

Hope you have a good week.

February 5, 2009

We got to go to Costco today and buy hamburger meat in bulk to bring home and put in foodsaver bags and then freeze for later uses. Last time we did it was January 10 and it's lasted us a long time. Easy to take out and dethaw and make quick dinners. While we were there we got the infamous Costco hot dog, yummy. A quick and cheap dinner in tough times. Phil is off to the Pizza hut tonight and hopefully he does good, he says that Thursdays are the best nights for tips..not sure why...probably has to do with Must see tv night! Speaking of that, I am glad it's Thursday because The Office comes back on tonight. Good stuff. It's such dry humor but so funny. I love Dwight Schrute, that's all I have to say. You can read his "blog" at http://blog.nbc.com/DwightsBlog/. Obviously, he's a character, but it's still funny that he keeps a blog as a character in character.
Anyhoo..ta ta for now.

Wednesday February 4, 2009 Coffee Filter Uses

COFFEE FILTERS
Coffee filters ....who knew! And you can buy 1,000 at the Dollar Tree for almost nothing.
1. Cover bowls or dishes when cooking in the microwave. Coffee filters make excellent covers.
2. Clean windows and mirrors... Coffee filters are lint-free so they'll leave windows sparkling.
3. Protect China. Separate your good dishes by putting a coffee filter between each dish.
4. Filter broken cork from wine. If you break the cork when opening a wine bottle, filter the wine through a coffee filter.
5. Protect a cast-iron skillet. Place a coffee filter in the skillet to absorb moisture and prevent rust.
6. Apply shoe polish. Ball up a lint-free coffee filter.
7. Recycle frying oil. After frying, strain oil through a sieve lined with a coffee filter.
8. Weigh chopped foods. Place chopped ingredients in a coffee filter on a kitchen scale.
9. Hold tacos. Coffee filters make convenient wrappers for messy foods
10. Stop the soil from leaking out of a plant pot. Line a plant pot with a coffee filter to prevent the soil from going through the drainage holes.
11. Prevent a Popsicle from dripping. Poke one or two holes as needed in a coffee filter.
12. Do you think we used expensive strips to wax eyebrows? Use strips of coffee filters.
13. Put a few in a plate and put your fried bacon, French fries, chicken fingers, etc on them. Soaks out all the grease.
14. Keep in the bathroom. They make great "razor nick fixers."

OH YEAH THEY ARE GREAT TO USE IN YOUR COFFEE MAKERS

Good joke for the day..sent to me by Kristy

Job at the FBI
The FBI had an opening for an assassin. After all the background checks, interviews And testing were done, there were 3 finalists; Two men and a woman. For the final test, the FBI agents took one of The men to a large metal door and handed Him a gun.'We must know that you will follow your Instructions no matter what the circumstances.Inside the room you will find your wife sitting in a chair .. . . Kill her!!'The man said, 'You can't be serious. I could never shoot my wife.'The agent said, 'Then you're not the right man for this job. Take your wife and go home.'The second man was given the same instructions.
He took the gun and went into the room. All was quiet for about 5 minutes. The man came out with tears in his eyes, 'I tried, but I can't kill my wife.' The agent said, 'You don't have what it takes. Take your wife and go home.'Finally, it was the woman's turn. She was given the same instructions, to kill her husband. She took the gun and went into the room. Shots were heard, one after another. They heard screaming, crashing, banging on the walls. After a few minutes, all was quiet. The door opened slowly and there stood the woman, wiping the sweat from her brow. 'This gun is loaded with blanks' she said. 'I had to beat him to death with the chair.
'MORAL:Women are crazy. Don't mess with them

Monday February 2, 2009

So today we have the day after the big game. I have to say that my whole reason for watching again as I said earlier was for the commercials, but this year they were all but disappointing. The only one that actually made me laugh outloud was this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UukD_cIw08E the Doritos commercial.

Well enjoy your day wherever you are!

Sunday February 1, 2009

So today is the big game, the Superbowl. I could give a crap as I don't follow football. Until last week I didn't even know who was in it this year. Let's be honest, I am like most people who really only tune in for the commercials. This year I don't even think I'll do that, Phil is off working the mad rush at the Pizza Hut. Hopefully he will make some good tips today, but they have every driver scheduled, so we'll see. I think I will just watch some shows that I have recorded on the Tivo (the greatest invention ever). I do enjoy Superbowl food though, I love Tostitos tortilla chips and bean dip or con queso..good stuff. My puppies like Tostitos as well, everytime they hear the bag they both become the most well behaved doggies..it's amazing. They sit without being asked, and just stare at you. Once in awhile Dukie gets impatient and will start slightly punching your leg or arm if you don't give him one. It's pretty cute and at that point you have to give in.

Oh well, til next time.

Saturday January 31, 2009

So here we are on Saturday. Phil is off learning his butt off trying to save his job. I am here with the doggies trying to save my sanity. Not much going on other than finally it's sortof on the nice side outside. I am trying to muster up the energy to go somewhere and take them to a park. Well I just might do that..maybe I'll update later!

Friday January 30, 2009

To my surprise we had an earthquake this morning. I was already at work (I start at 5AM) and didn't feel a thing. I must be in an indestructable bldg or something. I didn't even know until a co-worker came in later and said he heard it on the radio..right. Good thing I am aware of natual phenomenoms (spelling?).

So finally here we are at the end of the week..yippee. Phil is working at the Pizza Hut tonight and I will have shows to catchup on. If it's sunny, I may take the puppies to the puppy park depending on how cold it is or if it's raining. Just a crap shoot at this point. We are almost done with the first month of 2009 which in itself is weird. Seems like yesterday everyone was freaking out about Y2K coming and how the world would stop now we are 9 years in. We have had 2 new presidents, a terrorist attack, a recession, googles, .coms, hirings, layoffs and ipods. So many things have changed in 9 years. Some for the better some for the worse. You take the good with the bad as with anything. Well I will get off the soap box and get back to work.

Have a good day...

Lara

Thursday January 29, 2009

So here we are another day, more bad news about Boeing, the economy and everything else around us. It's hard to stay upbeat in a downspiraling world but I try to do my best. I have the escape of watching people who are more idiotic than I by going on reality shows and making total asses of themselves..i.e. American Idol. It brings me great joy. What can I say I am a sucker for the suckers! My other guilty pleasure and have gotten my husband involved in as well, because I an evil like that is TMZ. We watch it every day and I go to www.tmz.com a lot. It's quite addicting. I am so ready for some warmer weather, this cold and rain and grey outside does not help the situation of already being down in the dumps over economic and financial situations. At least when it's sunny, things that are free, like mowing the lawn can be entertaining, because it's WARM out! My one good thing to look forward to and for those who make fun of me can kiss off..is going to see Britney with Jody on April 9th at the Tacoma Dome. I am so psyched. I have been waiting for the crazy train to stop at the station for awhile and I have paid my dues as a fan believe me. Head shaving, rehab, british accent, pink wig, dating a papparazzo, trust me it's hard to be a Britney fan these days but I stuck it out and oh baby she's back!

Well that's all for now..until next time folks!
